Title                 : Senior Java Application Developer
Location          : Washington DC
Duration         : 12 months plus contract
Hourly pay rate on W2(no other benefits), On-site contract job and There will be no reimbursement for relocation.
 
Candidate will be a lead-level software engineer who will learn and support an existing system that is written in:
- Java
- Hibernate
- Oracle
- XSD and XML
- Web Services
 
Duties Include:
- Participate in team meetings with our Client (required)
- Interact with external clients technical team and programmatic team (required)
- Support a 7 x 24 production system, support software deployments and fixed during the weekly maintenance window that occurs Sundays from 00:00AM ET - 04:00AM ET. NOTE - this activity should not take place every week. Participate on severity 1 trouble calls to help bring the system online (required)
- Answer client questions about the system (required)
- Learn the Model Connector software and learn how to support it. Support will be via email or telephone (required)
- Participate as part of the development team to learn the system - approach will be to learn model connectors first, learn how to test them, and make changes to them. Next, take on development assignments as defined. (required)
- Support design and development of system enhancements (required)
- Help test new software being developed (required)
- Ultimately, learn the SIDES Broker and SIDES E-Response Web Site (required)
+ make maintenance changes to the Broker and E-Response Web Site
- Support once per year disaster recovery test (required)
 
Documentation/Writing:
- Be able to update and augment existing system documentation such as the developer guide, the implementation guide, model connector guides (required)
- Be able to develop technical training materials (required)
 
Communications: (required)
- *** must have excellent communication skills and must be able to clearly communicate with clients ***
- Deliver training to external clients on the system in a class-room forum in front of 30-40 individuals. Candidate must develop powerpoint charts and clearly present them
- Clearly and understandably participate in meetings, conference calls, and in writing (emails, design documents, etc)
- Possess excellent English oral and written skills
