Job Title: User Interface Designer
SUMMARY: Establishes, plans, directs and implements the user experience as determined by business goals and marketing strategies. Designs common user interface standards, usability guidelines, html mockups, prototypes, user interfaces for web-based applications. Designs, administers and offers workflow recommendations based on user testing. Utilizes business requirements, user-centered design methods and follows best practices to ensure usability within web-based applications.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Utilizing best practices pertaining to user centered design, designing all facets of application usability that support the business model requirements. Collecting user research data to support and prioritize application functionality.
Responsible for development of application paper prototypes, mock ups, wireframes, high fidelity web-based prototypes, and system level integration of user interface materials. Responsible for total architectural viability of application interface. Relates to the application's ability to support the required business function as well as integrate with the overall architecture and support user needs. Conceptualize and implement interface workflow models to increase application efficiency amongst users. Provide leadership, direction for development team members Work with members of architecture team to ensure that all architectural elements are maintained and managed in strategic fashion. Responsible for identifying, assessing, recommending, planning and implementing reusable components. Provide traceability of functionality from use case to code.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Masters in Human Computer Interaction or Human Factors preferred Minimum 5-7 years development experience in software development and web-based applications Experience in creating and overseeing usability studies, collecting user data and providing recommendations for increasing application quality Experience in gathering and defining requirements and then designing and implementing solutions that support those requirements. Proficient in user-facing design languages including HTML, VB script, Java Script, ASP.NET, CSS Strong analytic and problem resolution skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to provide leadership without direct line responsibility Ability to affect change through leadership, communication and commitment Broad knowledge of industry trends.
